About
Mica- music Austria and other partners have received a grant from the European Commission under the Culture 2007 programme to develop a quality label and a labelling process for fair music.
By supporting this project the European Commission expresses its commitment for cultural diversity.
Objectives
To position Fair Music as the global brand for musical diversity
To create awareness of audiences
To raise awareness of industry and policy makers
To set up a certification agency (code of conduct, certificate)
To install a sustainable distribution scheme (digital – internet, mobile, physical, live) and a catalogue of a certified fair music repertoire
Instruments to reach these objectives:
- Developing Standards for Fair Music
Cooperation with Fair Trade labelling organisations
Context with WTO regulation on cultural goods and services
Context with UNESCOS cultural diversity - Branding “Fair Music”
Development of a strong global brand that communicates the idea of “Fair Music” to the public - Fair Music campaign
Global awareness campaign for audience and music creatives (award, blog, brochure, media/PR, Conference Meetings, Consumer Agencies) - Quality labelling
Fair Music logo can be used by music creatives, media and organisations complying with fair music labelling standards - Alliance Building: Building a Global Alliance for Fair Music
International organisations and policy makers will be invited to participate in the alliance for Fair Music: (WCFA, INCT, OECD, UNCTAD, FIM, Independent Labels’ Associations)

Fair Music Campaign Presentations
To maximize the impact of publicity and awareness, the Fair Music Campaign will be presented at conferences

News and background information about the fair music initiative and activities, the fair music quality label, and the fair music award.
The fair music campaign was launched by a network of highly renowned NGOs that have been gathered together by mica – music austria.

- supporting independent producers in an environment of market concentration
- creating access to world markets for musicians from economically unprivileged countries
- safeguarding artistic freedom and possibilities for innovation
fair music sets steps within the scope of the UNESCO Convention on Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expression. fair music enjoys the support of the IMC - International Music Council and the Austrian Commission for UNESCO. fair music has received financial support from the European Commission, Directorate-General for Education and Culture.
